The tech giant Google has officially made an announcement on Sunday via the official Twitter account, Google Search Liaison that the company is rolling out a broad core update for the search algorithm.
On Monday June 3, 2019, the search engine company made an announcement via Twitter that the broad core update is live and rolling out to their various data centers:
“The June 2019 Core Update is now live and rolling out to our various data centers over the coming days.”
Here is the original announcement made by Google via their official Twitter account, Google SearchLiaison the day before yesterday about the broad core update:
“Tomorrow, we are releasing a broad core algorithm update, as we do several times per year. It is called the June 2019 Core Update. Our guidance about such updates remains as we’ve covered before.”
Please see the screenshots of the tweet below for more information on the announcement:
Google Search Liaison then suggested through their tweet from October 11, 2018 called An Update about Updates that there is generally nothing to fix in broad core updates.
Below is a significant fragment from that multi-tweet guidance:
“Sometimes, we make broad changes to our core algorithm. We inform about those because the actionable advice is that there is nothing in particular to “fix,” and we don’t want content owners to mistakenly try to change things that aren’t issues….”
According to Google there is nothing to fix through broad core algorithm updates because they are usually not about targeting low-quality content but are much about improving relevance.
Had it been about content quality, users had to be concerned about spamming. However, giving relevant results to the searchers is all about how much you have understood the search queries and the content than about weeding out spam.
In simple words, broad core algorithm updates are much about making it better as to how Google understands search queries and web pages and combine both sides to give a more relevant search result to the searcher.
Here are a few things publishers and search marketing professionals must consider from June Broad Core Algorithm Update:
- According to Google’s official guidance there is nothing to fix
- At times it takes almost a week to 10 days for Google Updates to bounce around. Hence, it is good to wait before coming to any conclusion about what happened
- Google’s Broad Core Updates is not about targeting specific niches and that it has a wide scope. You are probably mistaking if you think broad core update is about targeting a niche.
- Google’s broad core updates are much about the content relevance. Though Site Quality is important but is not the sole focus of the algorithm. It is better to keep in mind that broad core updates aren’t just about the site quality
- If in case your site is not ranking well on Search engine ranking pages, instead approaching the idea as to what needs to be fixed, it is better is you think about what is that made Google to take your site as not relevant for the searchers. Make your site content as relevant as possible for the search queries
