According to software engineer & researcher Jane Manchun Wong, Facebook is internally testing a new mobile feature that would integrate Stories and News Feed posts into a hybrid swipe-able carousel. Jane shared it in a tweet about being part of the test.
The carousel, however if rolled out to all the Facebook users, the traditional vertical-scrolling News Feed of the social network will seem much like Instagram Stories, where regular posts and Stories are equally placed in the feed.
As tweeted by Jane there is a progress bar that move slowly along the top of the screen and once it is done the app itself shifts to the next status update or Story, just like Instagram Stories. Jane shared a tweet with its video footage as she found it in her Facebook Android app.
As informed to TechCrunch by the social networking giant, though the feature is in testing but the indication of it going public is yet not confirmed.
According to TechCrunch, the hybrid carousel will bring more options of revenue generation for the social network as it will present the traditional feed posts, ads and Stories together, resulting the carousel to get more views and fetch extra revenue to the company.
As already predicated by Facebook in the past Stories sharing will go beyond the postings on Feed across all social apps this year. Currently, the social media company already has 300 million daily users on Facebook & Messenger Stories, 500 million on Instagram Stories and 450 million on WhatsApp Status.
