The search giant Google has rolled out a redesigned look for desktop search results with a tweaked search menu. The revamped search menu also includes icons along with the search category names such as News, Images, Shopping, Flights, Videos and more.
As reported, Google was found testing the new design back in March this year with a limited set of users. The new design however is accessible to everyone now.
Earlier, the top navigation menu only had text however with the change there are a few more characters to the search results pages. Though the search category icons were introduced in 2010 itself but were removed by the tech giant the next year in 2011 as noted by Search Engine land.
Various reports from across the world are confirming for the roll out of the desktop search results’ new look signalling the tweaked Google search page to be live for everyone. As confirmed by Google to Search Engine Land also the new design is indeed live for searchers since 14th June 2019.
The new design change is just a revamp of the search results look and that is just a visual change that has no impact on the functioning of the search engine. It is yet not clear as to what is the major goal behind Google adding these icons to the text in the search result top navigation menu.
Last month itself, Google made some tweaking in mobile search results and started showing the search result URL above the page title.
