A1 – Beginner
At this stage, learners can understand and use basic everyday expressions and simple phrases related to their immediate needs. They are able to introduce themselves and others, ask and answer simple questions about personal details like where they live, who they know, and what they have. However, they may need the other person to speak slowly and clearly and be willing to offer some help during the conversation.
This level of proficiency is typical for beginners who are just starting to communicate in a new language and are building their vocabulary and understanding of grammar. With practice and exposure to the language, they can gradually improve their skills and become more comfortable in their interactions.
A2 – Basic
At this stage, learners are developing their ability to handle basic conversations and tasks in the language. They can convey simple ideas and understand straightforward information, although their proficiency may still rely on clear and relatively slow communication from others. With continued practice and exposure to the language, they can progress to more complex language use and understanding.
B1 – Lower Intermediate
At this level, learners are able to engage in more complex interactions and express themselves with greater confidence. They are building their vocabulary and grammar skills to communicate effectively in various everyday situations and express personal thoughts and opinions. With further practice and exposure, they can continue to improve their language proficiency and handle more nuanced communication tasks.
B2 – Upper Intermediate
At this advanced level, learners have a solid command of the language and can engage in more sophisticated communication tasks. They are able to understand and express nuanced ideas, engage in professional or academic discussions, and navigate various social and cultural contexts with confidence. Continued practice and exposure to the language will further refine their skills and deepen their understanding.
C1 – Advanced
At this proficiency level, learners are able to engage fully in professional or academic environments, communicate effectively with native speakers, and comprehend complex texts and discussions. Their language skills are highly developed, allowing them to handle a wide range of linguistic tasks with confidence and accuracy.
C2 – Mastery
At this level of proficiency, learners have a deep understanding of the language and are able to use it confidently and accurately in a wide range of contexts. They can participate fully in academic and professional settings, engage in discussions and debates, and handle complex linguistic tasks with ease. Their language skills are comparable to those of native speakers in terms of comprehension, expression, and communication effectiveness. Continued exposure to the language allows them to maintain and further develop their proficiency over time.
