On the 15th anniversary of Gmail – the mailing service provided by Google, the search giant rolled out four nifty features, of which scheduling of emails is one. I know if you need the feature you will find the way yourself by doing a self R&D (Research & Development), still for your help, here’s stepwise process for how to use it:
- Open Gmail in your web browser
- Sign into your account with your email ID and password
- After you have opened the window for your email account, click on ‘Compose’ on the left top corner of the window
- A window for composing a ‘New Email’ will open type in your email and put in the email id. Of the recipient, the one you want to send the email to
- Now to schedule the email, instead of hitting ‘Send’, click on the down arrow icon placed next to ‘Send’
- Click on schedule send
- A small new window will appear suggesting three possible time options for you to select for sending the mail
- If you don’t want to send email at any of the of pre-selected time, click on ‘Pick date and time’
- This will open a Calendar you can pick date and time from
- Users can pick from up to 10 days from the day they are composing the email
Once you have scheduled the email, it will appear in the ‘scheduled’ section in the left corner. The best part is in case you want to undo the scheduling of the email, Google also offers with an option to do that. You can simply cancel the schedule. This will open the email back in a message window and save it in drafts.
“We understand that work can often carry over to non-buiness hours, but its important to be considerate of everyone’s downtime. We want to make it easier to resepect everyon’sdigital well-being, so we’re adding a new feauture to Gmail that allows you to choose when an email should be sent. Just write your email as you normally would, then schedule it to arrive in your recipient’s inbox at a later date and time”, said Google in its blogpost when launching this feature.
